The fan James Grice created a short Game Boy Color demake of the opening section of the original Fable game to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary. The demake covers the early part of the game where the player, as a young boy, goes around Oakvale collecting coins to buy a birthday present for their sister before the village is attacked by bandits.
Grice was inspired by his childhood memories of playing Fable and wondering how the game would have looked on lower-end hardware like the Game Boy Color. He spent 4 days creating this initial demake, which is currently available to download for free on itch.io. Grice has expressed interest in potentially expanding the demake further to cover more of the original game's story and...

The game follows four young men who have been bestowed with the ability to morph into anthropomorphic beasts to help them defeat an evil lord.

This release marks the 400th consecutive weekly Arcade Archives release on the Nintendo eShop since the series began in 2017. The game featured an impressive English voice cast including Kirsten Dunst, Anjelica Huston, Keith David, and Richard Harris.
However, the English version of the game was never officially released, likely due to the poor performance of the film. Now, a collector has unearthed a prototype of this unreleased English version, which includes full English voice acting and text. This long-lost version of the game is now being shared online for the first time, allowing players to experience 'Kaena' in its intended...

The Numskull co-owner has provided an update on the issues with the joystick controls on their recently released "Zoo Keeper" Quarter Arcade cabinet. Customers have reported problems with the joystick not properly registering diagonal movements, causing the character to stop moving.
Numskull has acknowledged this issue and explained that it is due to the digital nature of their joystick implementation, which is struggling to process the simultaneous left and down inputs required for diagonal movement. They are currently working on a firmware update to address this problem and improve the controls to better match the original arcade experience.
Numskull has assured customers that once this firmware update is released, it should...
The recent discovery of a rare VHS tape from the legal dispute between Capcom and Data East over the fighting game "Fighter's History" is an interesting piece of video game history.
In the early 1990s, Capcom's hugely successful "Street Fighter II" inspired a wave of similar fighting games, including Data East's "Fighter's History" in 1993. Capcom felt that "Fighter's History" copied too heavily from "Street Fighter II" and initiated legal proceedings against Data East.

The court case went to trial in 1994, but ultimately Capcom was unsuccessful in its lawsuit. The court ruled that the elements of "Fighter's History" that were similar to "Street Fighter II" were not...

The Atari decanter set sounds like a really cool and sophisticated piece of gaming-themed barware. It takes the iconic Atari CX-10 joystick design and turns it into a functional 750ml decanter, complete with two 300ml whiskey glasses featuring the Atari Fuji logo.
The set is being marketed as a "conversation piece" for retro gaming fans, and it looks like it would make a great gift for any Atari enthusiast. At $125 in the US or £79.99 in the UK, it's a bit on the pricey side, but the attention to detail and the nostalgic appeal of the design make it seem worth the cost for those who want to add a touch of retro gaming flair to their home bar.
Overall, this Atari decanter set seems like a really cool and unique product for Atari fans...
Sega has appointed Justin Scarpone as the new Executive Vice President and Head of their Global Transmedia Group, effective April 2024. The former president of Puyo Puyo creator Compile, Masamitsu "Moo" Niitani, is currently developing a "groundbreaking" new puzzle game for Nintendo Switch and PC through his indie studio COMPILE〇.
According to the information found, COMPILE〇 is actively recruiting playtesters to provide feedback on the game, which is being developed for release on Switch and PC. The studio previously released a falling-block puzzle game called Nyoki Nyoki on the 3DS eShop in 2016, but was unable to crowdfund a Switch version due to lack of interest at the time. However, with the recent closure of the 3DS eShop, there has been renewed interest in Nyoki Nyoki, which seems to have encouraged COMPILE〇 to work on this new, unrelated puzzle title.

The first J.B. Harold game, "Murder Club", is being reissued for the Nintendo Switch as part of D4 Enterprise's EGGCONSOLE series of classic game rereleases. The original PC-88 version of the detective adventure title, designed by Rika Suzuki (known for "Another Code" and "Hotel Dusk"), will be made available in Japan on October 24th, and likely come to Western digital storefronts shortly after.
However, despite this new Switch version, it will not include any English text options. This is because the original 1986 release only had Japanese language support, and D4 Enterprise typically only adds basic English menus and instructions to these classic reissues, rather than fully localizing the games.
So while fans will be able to...
