Back in November 2020, Skunkape — a company comprised of Telltales Games' co-founder Dan Connors and various former Telltale talent — announced it had acquired the rights to remaster the Sam & Max games for modern platforms, starting with a remastered version of Sam & Max: Save The World. Released just one month later, in December of the same year, this remaster of Sam & Max: Save the World boasted better lighting, camera placement, and editing, as well as newly recorded music, an enhanced frame rate, and faster loading times, making it the definitive way to play the game for fans both new & old. So, in the time since, you'd be relieved to hear that Skunkape has also gone on to remaster the remaining two games in the Sam & Max series...
Formed in 2022 as a joint venture between North American publisher Limited Run Games and Japanese localisation company 8-4, Ltd, Superdeluxe Games is a name that will likely be more familiar with gamers in the Land of the Rising Sun than in the West. Since its genesis a short time ago, Superdeluxe has released a series of special physical editions for the Japanese market, covering games such as Tetris Effect Connected, Radiant Silvergun, Contra Operation Galuga, Trip World DX, Cuphead and Sol Cresta. It would be easy to say that the firm is simply "Limited Run for Japan", but there's a lot more to Superdeluxe than that. To find out more, we sat down with 8-4 boss and Superdeluxe Creative Director John Ricciardi to discuss the...
Fantasian Neo Dimension is an updated version of the original Fantasian — an Apple Arcade release from a few years back. It's produced and written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who's often referred to as the father of Final Fantasy — and so when we were handed an opportunity to interview the man himself, we couldn't possibly say no. Ahead of Fantasian's first foray on PlayStation platforms, we asked Sakaguchi-san about the game as a whole, its development, and his own return to PlayStation after so many years. GameParadise: As a PlayStation website, a lot of our readers may not be familiar with Fantasian. Could you start by giving us a brief overview of what the game's all about? Hironobu Sakaguchi, producer and writer: Fantasian is quite a...
Xbox's latest big first-party release is Age of Mythology: Retold, which comes from the excellent studio behind all the recent Age of Empires releases. Essentially, this is a modernising of the classic Age of Mythology PC title from back in 2002, not only enhancing the visuals and controls, but also introducing some brand-new features. Ahead of the game's release, we had a chance to speak to a couple of key members from the Age of Mythology: Retold team as part of a video chat at Gamescom 2024 a couple of weeks ago, and we left feeling extremely enthusiastic about not only playing the game, but also seeing how it evolves as the weeks and months roll on. So, given that Age of Mythology: Retold is available on Xbox and PC Game Pass as...
The Screenwave Media-owned Retroware has recently been establishing itself as a digital publisher specializing in "neo-retro" games - titles that borrow ideas from the past to create new experiences with all the benefits and modern conveniences you'd expect from a contemporary release. Last year, for example, it was behind the successful release of the excellent Shatterhand & Power Blade-inspired action game Prison City across PC and consoles, and in the future, it also intends to publish various other promising "neo-retro"-themed projects like the Contra-Esque run and gunner Iron Meat, the licensed beat 'em up Toxic Crusaders, and the Castlevania homage/parody The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest. All of these wear their...
