The release date for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is steadily creeping closer despite only being announced in June. It's now only two weeks away! It puts Zelda in the hot seat after rifts start forming in the world and pulling people in. There have been lots of trailers showing off the game's features, but today Nintendo dropped a 5-minute Overview Trailer to help pull all publicly known information together and tie it up with a neat little bow. I don't think there's much (if anything) new, but it's compiled well enough to make it worth watching. Hyrule is described as a sprawling, vibrant land. At the center of a great field is Hyrule Castle, surrounded by a bustling town. Regions in Hyrule include Gerudo Desert, Faron...
Developer Nekki has aired a new trailer for their upcoming action game, SPINE, that provides a glimpse of the gameplay. The video also showcases the debut of the game's original soundtrack by producer and composer Le Castle Vania, whose music features throughout the John Wick movie franchise. Features of SPINE include: Movie-Like Experience – SPINE puts players inside the action with a dynamic combat camera that makes every fight feel like a movie, without ever stealing control from players. Innovative Combat – A thrilling fusion of cinematic gunplay and beat 'em up. Dive into the chaos of SPINE's combat, where every move is a dance between gunfire and raw, close-quarter bullet mayhem. It's not just a game; it's an artistic canvas...

Expansive and dynamic stories navigate love, loss and complex choices that will affect your relationships and the fate of each member of the Veilguard. New companions like the Veil Jumper Bellara, the necromancer Emmrich, and the private detective Neve, come from iconic factions in Dragon Age lore, possessing individual skill trees and specialized gear for advanced team progression...
Developer The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have aired the final trailer for Still Wakes the Deep, their upcoming narrative horror, during the PC Gaming Show 2024. Still Wakes the Deep will launch on June 18 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. It will also be available with Game Pass for console and PC.
Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire is the latest loving homage to the JRPGs of yesteryear. It's being published by PQube, and there's a new trailer that's very much a "spot the references/homages" affair. It's a game that takes place in the skies (no, not of Arcadia, although…). It's structured very much like a Dragon Quest or Ni No Kuni, in that you'll move from town to town, solving local problems before moving on, with the grand narrative slowly building in the background. And speaking of Ni No Kuni, the game also draws its visual inspiration from the work of Level-5 and Studio Ghibli. It's a lot to live up to, but the trailer certainly puts a strong foot forward! From the press release: Relive a Golden Era of Classic JRPGs with a...
During the Guerrilla Collective Showcase, developer Hakababunko aired a new trailer for their upcoming single-player psycho-detective mystery adventure Urban Myth Dissolution Center. Urban Myth Dissolution Center is said to be "coming soon" to Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Skyward Sword is a divisive title in the Zelda series. Hailed with praise at launch with a 93 Metacritic average, the game since received criticism for the often-unwieldy and frustrating control scheme that serves as the foundation of its gameplay, paired with a more linear experience than fans were previously used to. In 2020 we saw one of these issues fixed, as the Skyward Sword randomizer saw its first release. For those unfamiliar, a randomizer is a mod that shuffles parts of a game to provide an entirely unique playthrough. In games like Super Mario 64 we've seen Mario's basic abilities be hidden in levels, in the Pokemon series we see wild encounters shuffled. For games like Zelda, you'll generally find obtainable items being the...
Indie developer Plane Toast and publisher Dear Villagers have announced their upcoming game, Caravan SandWitch. The latter is a combat-free, narrative-driven adventure game set in a sci-fi universe with landscapes drawing inspiration from Provence, in the south of France, where the developers grew up. Some of the key features of Caravan SandWitch include: Explore a Provence-like World: Equipped with your van and an array of essential tools, you set out on a quest to find your missing sister. Upgrade your van throughout your adventure and explorations to open up new passages and ruins. From navigating treacherous terrain to uncovering ancient ruins, every step of your journey brings you closer to unraveling the truth behind your...
Maurice Leblanc's Arsene Lupin is often considered to be the literary foil to Sherlock Holmes. Where the great detective solved crimes, Lupin, the great "gentlemen thief," commits them. Despite his enduring popularity as a literary character, Studio Ghibli film, and references across any number of games (including Persona 5), though, Mr. Lupin has never yet starred in a video game. That changes soon, thanks to Microids, and the upcoming Arsene Lupin – Once A Thief. The company (which has published more than a few other adventure games starring classic literary characters in the past) has released a new trailer for the game, and it looks good. Very good. Once A Thief is being developed by Blazing Griffin (a bunch of Hercule Poirot...
It is over 30 degrees where I live (it feels like 37 at this moment, to be precise) so living in a world stuck in an eternal deep freeze sounds downright lovely right now – but the gameplay teaser trailer for Permafrost has reminded me that a frozen world might not be so great either. Only those with strength, smarts, resourcefulness, and adaptability will be able to survive the Permafrost's bleak open-world landscape when it launches in Early Access for PC in 2025. An apocalyptic moon phase phenomenon known as the shattering has placed humanity on the brink of extinction thanks to an eternal deep freeze. Political and economic structures have collapsed. Billions of people have died. It is possible to survive? Is it worth it to help...
Watching games progress through development is one of the great pleasures of writing game-related news. I've had my eye on indie-developed Garden Witch Life for about three years now. I first heard about it during 2021 when it was known as A Garden Witch's Life and set to launch for PC. In 2022 Soedesco partnered with FreetimeStudio to publish the future title, which was renamed to Garden Witch Life at the time. (The slightly altered title was unveiled at a Wholesome Direct.) Today, the developer and publisher have announced that the cozy magic farm/life sim will be coming to consoles as well as PC – and it's launching later this year. The story begins when you – a small witch from a big city – lose your job and have to move to a...
Ubisoft has today officially revealed the next installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise: Assassin's Creed Shadows. The cinematic premier trailer aired today provides a glimpse at the setting: Assassin's Creed Shadows is slated to launch this November 15 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. SOURCE
Assassin's Creed Red has finally gotten an official title, and it's getting a gameplay reveal very soon. Ubisoft surprised us today with the announcement that its highly-anticipated Assassin's Creed game, previously known as Assassin's Creed Red, will be getting a full-on reveal later this year. Check out the teaser trailer for the game below In an official tweet from the studio, it was revealed the game will actually be called Assassin's Creed Shadows, and was accompanied by an IRL image of real-life Japan teasing the countdown to a full reveal. It was revealed in the same tweet that an "Official Cinematic World Premiere Trailer" will be released on 15 May, at 9am PT. Assassin's Creed fans have been patiently waiting for more...
Developer CRAFTS & MEISTER and publisher Bandai Namco have today revealed the launch date for Gundam Breaker 4. For the occasion, an announcement trailer was aired: Gundam Breaker 4 will launch on August 29 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
After an Early Access period, V Rising, the action RPG survival game from Stunlock Studios, fully launches on PC today. For the occasion, a launch trailer was aired: V Rising's full release include: Explore a new deadly endgame zone: The Ruins of Mortium Experience dynamic endgame events Fight the monstrous Dracula, a new breed of foe Several new V Blood bosses, including the final boss: Dracula himself The Legacy of Castlevania event introduces legendary vampire hunter Simon Belmont as a new boss New weapons, A new tier of equipment, and magic improvements Improvements to castle building, decor, and storage Native, smoothly implemented gamepad support Game optimization, visual improvements, and an all-around better experience...
Nearly a year after Agate launched Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 to mixed reviews, the developer is trying its hand at bringing otome visual novel Celestia: Chain of Fate from story app Memories: My Story, My Choice to PC and Nintendo Switch. This isn't something I've seen done a whole lot and I'm really interested to see how it will turn out. It seems like the mobile and PC/console versions of Celestia: Chain of Fate are pretty much the same, though a press release for the PC and Nintendo Switch versions does state there are extra stories about each character in order to delve deeper into their background and personality. You've always just been the daughter of a Duke, but that's about to change as you uncover your true...
You can't talk about ink in video games without someone bringing up Splatoon. But Realm of Ink is a very different beast. It's coming to Early Access on PC on May 17, courtesy of dual developers, Leap Studio and Maple Leaf Studio. The publisher is 663 games. Realm of Ink is basically Hades, the inky version, and with a far more attractive protagonist. It is a roguelike action game, and while I think most people would join me in saying "enough is enough" as far as that genre goes, it's hard to not be intrigued when it looks like this. It does have an intriguing, dark fairy tale-like concept, too. You play as Red, an expert swordswoman, who finds herself drawn into a short story collection called the Realm of Ink. What this means in...
I've become weary of Early Access games, and I know I'm not the only one. There have been a lot of… not great… games released in Early Access that don't actually improve over time, but I am hopeful that Cozy Caravan will fit not into that category. The developer has been very open about taking in player feedback, even two months ago when the game was first announced. The wholesome adventure game now has a date set for its Early Access launch – and it's only two weeks away! Cozy Caravan is a single-player, top-down adventure. The arts of crafting, trading, and exploration come together in a beautiful cozy world. It all starts when you create your own cute animal persona before hitting the road in your caravan alongside your best buddy...
The first game from Studio Daimon – a JRPG called Path of the Midnight Sun – has a great narrative, solid gameplay mechanics, and a pleasing aesthetic. Today, Studio Daimon announced its next title. Food Devils is about the lone human chef remaining in a post-apocalyptic world where food is scarce and survival is a struggle. It combines gameplay elements from SRPGs, roguelikes, and base builders. Food Devils is set to launch in late 2025 for PC (and possibly consoles if a stretch goal is met on Kickstarter, but I'll get to that later). Food Devils begins in a world with excessive pollution thanks to humanity. The gods reverse the food chain to punish them, causing modern civilization to collapse. Centuries later, society has regressed...
