AYANEO has revealed the Pocket DMG today, but that's not the only handheld it has been showing off – it has also lifted the lid on the Pocket Micro, which clearly takes inspiration from the Game Boy Micro.
It has a 3.5-inch screen which is "perfect for GBA games" according to AYANEO, and is powered by MediaTek Helio G99 chipset.
The system will have a premium feel thanks to its aluminum alloy frame and is roughly the same size as an iPhone 15, so it will be pocket-friendly.
AYANEO announced its retro-themed REMAKE line of products late last year. During a product update sharing session aired today, the company has revealed new products that will be released under this line. While specs of the products were also revealed, release dates were not; but we can expect more news to be shared in the coming months. You can view the full video session below and a text break-down of each product shown follows:
AYANEO Pocket DMG
This is the company's first vertically-oriented handheld and looks like a revamped GameBoy Pocket. It is an Android-based device with a 3.92" OLED screen, 1240x1080 resolution and is powered by the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 gaming platform.

We still see hilariously bad clone systems these days, but back in the '90s, the sheer volume of ropey imitations that flowed from the Far East was a sight to behold.
There were countless Famicom / NES replications with often amusing names, all due to the fact that the internal hardware was basic enough that it could successfully be copied by unscrupulous manufacturers in China and Taiwan.
Because there were so many of these unofficial devices (which, we should add, gave many players in that part of the world their first taste of video games, legitimate or not), we're always stumbling across new examples – and the Songa Mega Drive 3 has to be one of the best / worst yet (thanks, Dan 'The Mega' Driver).

AYANEO has given us a better look at the back of the Pocket DMG:
AYANEO has revealed that it will be showing off three new products this week, including its previously-teased Pocket DMG.
"Taking inspiration from the legendary vertical handheld consoles, AYANEO Pocket DMG marks a return to the roots of handheld gaming aspirations," says the company. The system has only been seen in close-up images so far, but appears to be based on the Game Boy.
Also during the event, which takes place on May 18th, AYANEO will show off the Pocket MICRO, "which is inspired by Nintendo GBM [Game Boy Micro] and designed for demanding retro gamers like us."
The third product is the AYANEO AG01, "a multi-functional GPU dock under the Remake concept. It...

Thanks to the efforts of companies such as Anbernic, Powkiddy, AYANEO and Miyoo, we've certainly not been short of options in the world of emulation handhelds over the past few years, but there's always room for more – and Z-Pocket Game's A1 Unicorn is shaping up to be an interesting-looking device.
Powered by a Helio G99 processor (which features two ARM Cortex-A76 Performance cores running at up to 2.2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores up to 2 GHz, and Mali-G57 MC2 graphics), this Android-based device is packing plenty of power, and may even be capable of PS2 emulation.
The A1 Unicorn has a perfectly square 4 inch, 720 x 720 pixel display, as well as 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has a built-in fan to keep things cool, and the 4,500...
A new NES clone has appeared online which offers RGB and HDMI right out of the box.
The 'Lava FC' is currently available on AliExpress for £240 and runs physical Famicom cartridges.
It makes use of the open-source Lava RGB mod, and also offers S-Video and Composite support.
HDMI output tops out at 720p, and the current firmware allows for colour palettes and variable scanlines. More features are expected to be added in future firmware updates, according to creator Retro Castle.
Previous clone systems have included the Retro AVS and Analogue NT.
Retro handheld manufacturer Anbernic has revealed its first clamshell device: the Anbernic RG35XXSP. As the suffix indicates, this handheld's design is inspired by the GBA SP but it should be capable of playing more than just GBA games. While full specs of the device have yet to be revealed, the naming convention indicates that it will likely be another RG35XX device, just in another form factor. This means packing the quad-core H700 chip and the company has confirmed that the device will support HDMI connection, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi connectivity.
No availability or pricing for the Anbernic RG35XXSP have been announced but we should expect the company to provide more details in the coming weeks.

Drumming up hype by teasing a new product, with its formal reveal to come next month is Asus, who just announced the latest revision to their ROG Ally handheld. Titled the ROG Ally X, it'll be a refresh to the original model, sporting improvement in various ways, such as better battery life, a new black color scheme, being more "repair friendly", swappable analog sticks, and support for larger M.2 drives. The Ally X will still feature the same screen and hardware internals as the original did, with an AMD Z1/Extreme CPU powering the device and its 1080p 7-inch LCD screen.
Asus teased more details to arrive on June 2nd, where we'll get to learn more about how Asus has improved the RAM, ports, and the "significant" upgrade to the...
It still bums us out that Sega released the Game Gear Micro and not a full-size replica of the original handheld packed with classic titles.
While the Micro remains a cool little trinket, it wasn't the ideal way to experience the system's catalogue – and the fact that you had to buy multiple Micros to get the entire selection of games was a pain. Oh, and did we mention that it was Japan-only? Gah.
Thankfully, one modder has atoned for Sega's sins by producing an unofficial, modern-day take on the Game Gear. Built using a combination of a reclaimed shell, new components and a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, Jeff Geerling has created the ultimate tribute to the iconic Game Boy rival. And what's more, this device is capable of a wide...
Earlier this year, AYANEO revealed details of its next Android-based gaming handheld, the AYANEO Pocket S. However, the actual launch of the device was unknown; that is until today. The company has officially made the device available for purchase via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. Caution is advised with such campaigns but AYANEO has steadily held its end of the bargain for its previous devices, which have all been crowdfunded.
Features of the AYANEO Pocket S include the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 gaming platform, a large-area VC thermal plate that delivers performance of up to 15W, a 6000mAh battery, a 6" 1440P ultra-retina IPS borderless mirror screen and a CNC full-metal mid-frame. More specs details can be found below...

Sony's PS5 Pro could be ready to launch by the end of the year.
Similar to its PS4 strategy, a PS5 Pro is reported to be in development and arriving soon. According to The Verge, the rumored specs for this console will see it ship with a more powerful GPU and a slightly faster CPU mode, and Sony is reportedly encouraging developers to apply more ray tracing features in their games so that they can earn a PS5 Pro enhanced label.
The system will be equipped with more and faster memory, alongside improved GPU rendering said to be "about 45% faster" than a standard PS5, according to the full list of specs in developer papers for the PS5 Pro that The Verge has seen. Overall, it's reported that the PS5 Pro will have a significantly...
The GBA homebrew scene has been growing steadily over the years, with one of the most recent homebrew projects for the system allowing for such technological wonders such as running Tomb Rainder on the 32-bit handheld with the help of the open source engine OpenLara.
All of this is thanks to the effort put together by the GBA homebrew devs, being lead by the GameBoy Development community over at gbdev.io, where they share a vast variety of libraries and documentation about the GameBoy family of handhelds, put together over the decades to allow for homebrew developers and romhackers alike to create new and fascinating projects for the beloved Nintendo handheld.
One such collection of libraries is the GBA Link Connection, which allows...
Nintendo is reportedly aiming to launch Switch 2 in March 2025. While the company still hasn't officially announced its next system, apparently the hardware was internally delayed from this year to next to avoid any supply issues.
As spotted by VGC, Nikkei has a new report detailing that Nintendo not only wants to beef up the launch lineup, but also the amount of Switch 2 systems initially available. Earlier this month, widespread rumblings suggested Switch 2 was pushed back to early 2025. No specific month was mentioned at the time, but it was noted that the company was looking to ensure the next system had a healthy slate of games ready to go. This timeline shift led to quite a significant stock drop for Nintendo.
