News Visually-pleasing adventure game Barraka announced for PC and consoles

There may have already been a few videos on developer Zomorro Studio's YouTube page regarding Barraka, but today the game was officially officially announced by publisher Dojo System. The game uses various techniques to recreate a stop-motion look, creating a '90s village fair setting where lovable characters and disturbing enemies co-exist. You get to do traditional fair things, such as visiting a haunted house, playing bumper cars, or riding a merry-go-round that can transform into a horizontally scrolling space shooter with a boss. (I guess that last one isn't that traditional. Oh well.) The fair features surprises that are both fun and challenging.

In Barraka, you will accompany Ainhoa on her adventure through a spooky village fair in the '90s. It is a place full of exploration, mystery, and surprises. Unforgettable experiences include visiting Ainhoa's cozy churro stand and an epic against an evil witch and her minions. Collect coins as you progress through the park, encountering levels, challenges, huts, and minigames.

The minigames are inspired by classic fair minigames, such as whack-a-mole and target shooting, and are made to test your skills. You can use your winnings to buy equipment that can be upgraded, helping Ainhoa move forward.

Barraka is, visually-speaking, lovely. It's super cute! The graphics fuse real images, stop-motion techniques, and traditional animation to create an impressive plasticine universe. The developer says the visual experience is complemented by a captivating soundtrack and funny sound effects.

The person behind Barraka is Ibai Aizpurua, who works under the company name Zomorro Studio. He's been a developer since a 2015 Game Jam and he plans ahead: he's got a lucky 13 proposals in the studio's catalogue right now! Barraka won an award at the BIG Indie Contest in 2023. Also that year, Aizpurua organized the first Euskai Game Jame in Bilbao, Spain.

Developed by Zomorro Studio and published by Dojo System, Barraka will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox. It can be added to your Steam and PlayStation wishlists now. The option to wishlist will be added to Nintendo's and Xbox's digital stores later on. I'm not sure if that means it's coming to PC and PlayStation before the other consoles, or if all versions will launch at the same time.
