Copycat is a complex, three-act story. Play as Dawn while she wanders alleys, rooftops, and fences while trying to find her home with Olive. But if she makes it there, will Olive recognize her? How could Olive possibly choose between the two cats? Or maybe Dawn was the copycat all along…
Despite having a cat protagonist, Copycat explores the dark emotional depths of the human condition. The philosophical narrative is meant to make you stop and think. It brings up questions about our existence and place in the world. (It sounds like an existential crisis waiting to happen! But in a good way.) You will reflect on themes of home, loneliness, and belonging.
While playing as a domestic cat, a nature documentary will narrate your movements. As a cat, use intuitive and smooth cat-like controls to climb trees, fight dogs, and explore the neighborhood. You can also be mischievous by knocking things to the ground, hiding in cardboard boxes, and meowing at anything that moves.
Thought has definitely been put into how Copycat sounds. Daniel Bunting's diverse score includes jazz, lullabies, and tribal music. The game is fully voice-acted by local Australians.
Developed by Spoonful of Sugar (and published by Neverland Entertainment and Nuuvem), Copycat will be released for PC on September 19 (September 20 for those in AU/NZ). Console versions are being developed.
