Silent Hill 2: Wood Side Apartments Guide - All Collectibles: Memos, Strange Photos, Glimpses of the Past

In this second segment of our Silent Hill 2 Guide, we'll walk you through the Wood Side Apartments on PS5, including all Collectibles. You'll reach this area after getting the Wood Side Apartments Key by solving the Jukebox Puzzle in Neely's Bar.

This Guide assumes you've set both Combat Challenge and Puzzles Challenge to Standard. For details on other difficulty settings, check the linked page. We'll cover everything from entering the apartments to reaching Blue Creek Apartments, including how to solve the Coin Cabinet puzzle and the Room 206 Safe code.

The Wood Side Apartments entrance office feels oddly welcoming after the storm outside. You'll spot the Wood Side Apartments 1F, 2F, and 3F Maps on the notice board, and can save your game in the reception office. In the back room, grab Handgun Ammo from a cupboard on your right, then uncover the Coin Cabinet puzzle by removing furniture covers.

Head left in the hallway to find the stairs. Underneath, you'll get a Health Drink. Check the mailboxes for a Memo called Administration Note.

Memo #1: Administration Note

On 1F, under the staircase left of the reception office, interact with the mailboxes for the Administration Note. Besides Handgun Ammo in a storage cupboard past reception, all other doors on this floor are locked. Head up to 2F. In the corridor, enter the open, lit room. You'll find a Health Drink in a kitchen drawer, and can pick up the Flashlight from a mannequin. Be ready for an enemy attack right after.

After defeating the enemy, open the dressing table drawer to find the Chute Courtyard Key. Exit Room 202 and return to 1F. Use the key on the double doors right of the reception office to access the courtyard. Push the cart against the window on the right to climb through.

Inside, grab Handgun Ammo from the left bedroom. Leave and enter the new corridor. Go right into Room 109, defeat an enemy, and take Handgun Ammo from the bedroom. Back in the corridor, follow it until you see a key beyond metal railings. As you approach, a girl appears and kicks it away.

Once you regain control, exit to the courtyard and return to the entrance hallway to save. You'll hear the girl, and a door to your left will be ajar. This leads to the other side of the railings. Run to the end to get the 2F Hallway Key, then enter Room 107 for a Health Drink in the bedroom.

Go to Room 108 with its open door. Interact with the cupboard in the main room. Twist the left hand to get the Golden Apple Handle.

Enter Room 106 for Handgun Ammo. Return to the entrance hallway to find the 1F shutter open with two enemies. Defeat them, then enter Room 102 on the left. Find a Strange Photo called Valentines Day on the TV tray and a Health Drink in the bedroom.

Strange Photo #1: Valentines Day

When the metal shutter blocking the left corridor on 1F opens, go to Room 102. You'll find this Strange Photo on the TV tray.

Room 101 at the corridor's end is sealed, leaving us no choice but to climb the stairs and use the 2F Hallway Key on the double doors to the left. The new hallway offers few unlocked doors until you reach its end. There, you'll spot a red glow - your first glimpse of Pyramid Head. The immediate right door, though unnamed, houses a laundry room with a garbage chute. Interacting with it reveals a stuck Coin, which will be useful later.

Back in the corridor, enter Room 213 across the way. It's pitch dark, but the bedroom's scratched wall holds one of the Glimpses of the Past when touched.

Glimpses of the Past #1

After using the 2F Hallway Key, follow the corridor to its end where Pyramid Head lurks behind metal bars. Enter Room 213 on your left and interact with the bedroom wall's scratches.

Still in Room 213, go to the living room and squeeze through the wall gap by the chair. This bypasses a locked door, revealing another locked door on your right leading to the third floor. For now, head left down the corridor to Room 217 at the end. This apartment, previously reported for gunshots, shows clear evidence of gunfire on the back wall. The storage area to your left contains Handgun Ammo, with more in a kitchen drawer.

More ammo sits beside the TV, but the real prize is in the red trolley: a Handgun! Finally, a use for all that Handgun Ammo we've collected.

Leaving the room, you'll hear a distant scream. Squeeze back through the wall gap to find the TV now showing static, with a body facing it. After the cutscene, grab the Apartment 212 Key from the right table. Cross the corridor to Room 212, noting Pyramid Head's disappearance.

In Room 212, you'll spot a Health Drink in a kitchen cabinet. Step onto the balcony and follow it to Room 210. Be cautious as you turn the corner - an enemy is waiting to ambush you. Check the fridge for Handgun Ammo, then look near the leftmost boarded window for a Strange Photo titled Career's Humble Beginnings.

Strange Photo #2: Career's Humble Beginnings

After finding the Handgun and backtracking to discover a body in front of a TV and the Apartment 212 Key, enter Room 212. Use its balcony to access Room 210. The Strange Photo is on the ledge of the leftmost boarded window.

Exit Room 210 through its main door into a new hallway - the one where you saw Pyramid Head. Go right until you reach outdoor stairs overlooking the courtyard. Use the nearby lever to lower a staircase, creating a shortcut. Head back inside and enter Room 207. Defeat two enemies to grab two boxes of Handgun Ammo. While here, shoot the "Welcome Home" balloons for a Trophy.

Return to the hallway and continue to Room 208. Find Handgun Ammo in the kitchen and another cupboard with a hand lock. Insert the Golden Apple Handle into the left hand to open the doors, revealing a peephole into an adjacent room. Access it by pushing the left cupboard.

Squeezing through the wall gap traps you inside. For escape instructions, check our how to open the Safe in Room 206 guide.
