In truth, this is a far cry from the volleyball games of yore. It's effectively an extremely well animated visual novel, where you'll date the featured girls and make dialogue decisions. Depending on the choices you select, you'll reach different endings and outcomes.
A big feature of the gameplay loop here appears to be the photography aspect, which has Gran Turismo 7 levels of depth. You'll have access to a full suite of DSLR-esque functions, including depth or field, contrast, and more. It also seems like you can temporarily pause time to capture intimate moments, like when a girl takes a sip of coffee.
One thing we noticed, despite the high quality character models, is that clothing still clips depending on your subject's pose. This feels like a little bit of an oversight considering the emphasis on photography and realistic character models.
To be honest, we think we would have preferred the minigames of the previous Dead or Alive Xtreme games to what's on offer here. Visual novels can be fun, but this seems like it'll run out of steam quite fast. You can unlock new outfits by taking great pictures, but it doesn't seem like there's much more to the game beyond that.
Is there enough on offer here to convince you to give it a go? Practice your chat-up lines in the comments section below.
