Ubisoft has expressed confidence that Assassin's Creed Shadows will meet its new release date of February 14, 2025. The game was originally scheduled for November 15, 2024, but was delayed to ensure a polished player experience at launch.
Frédérick Duguet, Ubisoft's chief corporate finance officer, stated during a recent earnings call that they have "good visibility for the game to come on time and with great quality". The delay decision was influenced by the reception of Star Wars Outlaws, with Ubisoft aiming to deliver an "impeccable player experience on day one".
The delay is estimated to add €20 million ($21.7 million) to the game's development costs. Ubisoft is focusing on optimizing the day-one experience, addressing any remaining bugs, and ensuring the game meets quality standards.
Despite the additional time and cost, Ubisoft remains optimistic about Assassin's Creed Shadows' potential success, even with the upcoming release of Sony's Ghost of Yōtei, another historical action-adventure game set in Japan.
