Remember In the Valley of Gods? The exciting sequel was in development at Firewatch creator Campo Santo before Valve, Steam's owner, bought the studio in 2018. By 2019, the team was reassigned to Half-Life: Alyx. Their promising story-driven game was put on hold indefinitely, seemingly locked away in a digital vault forever.

That changed today. On X, user Gabe Follower shared work by Valve developer Matthew Wilde, who specializes in water shaders. Wilde showcased some impressive water technology created for In the Valley of Gods before Campo Santo closed down. Considering this tech is about five years old now, it's quite remarkable!

Is there still hope for In the Valley of Gods, or is it a lost cause? Did you enjoy Campo Santo's work, especially Firewatch? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
