Techland has provided details covering its recent PS5 Pro patch for Dying Light 2, revealing exactly how the open world zombie game takes advantage of the new console. It works to significantly enhance all four of the pre-existing graphics modes, either increasing their resolution or adding new features.

No matter which mode you choose when playing on a PS5 Pro, you'll be treated to "improved global illumination, screen space reflections, and sub surface scattering quality". Then, here are the four modes and how they've been improved:
  • Balanced — Upscaled 4K at 60FPS (base 1512p resolution upscaled using PSSR)
  • Resolution — Native 4K at 30FPS
  • Performance — Upscaled 4K with VRR, up to 120FPS (base 1440p resolution upscaled using PSSR)
  • Quality — Upscaled 4K at 30FPS with ray tracing (base 1440p resolution upscaled using PSSR)
If you want to take the game for a spin on a PS5 Pro, it's coming to PS Plus Extra next week on Tuesday, 19th November 2024. You'll then be able to play it without charge as part of your subscription. We awarded a 7/10 in our Dying Light 2 PS5 review back at launch, concluding: "Your choices don't have nearly as much impact as we would like, and the map is much more rigid than pre-release footage would have you believe. Still, Dying Light 2 feels awesome and empowering to play, and that can go a long way."
