Microsoft's Xbox studio Rare is excited about the return of the classic Nintendo 64 platformer Banjo-Tooie, which will be joining the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on October 25, 2024.
Banjo-Tooie is the sequel to the original Banjo-Kazooie game, which was already made available on the Switch Online service. The new version of Banjo-Tooie will feature enhanced graphics, a widescreen mode, and expanded multiplayer features compared to the original N64 release.
In a recent social media post, Rare expressed its excitement about fans being able to experience Banjo-Tooie in this "modern way", alongside its availability on Xbox Game Pass and the Rare Replay collection. Some fans have speculated about the potential for a new Banjo-Kazooie game in the future, but there are no official announcements or indications from Microsoft/Rare about any such plans at this time.
The addition of Banjo-Tooie to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service continues Nintendo's efforts to bring classic N64 titles to its current-generation platform, following the previous additions of Rare-developed games like GoldenEye 007 and the original Banjo-Kazooie.
