The race-ready BMW M3 GTR (E46) serves as the player's mode of transportation upon arrival in Rockport City. As the player follows Mia Townsend, who Josie Maran portrays, he demonstrates his driving prowess while being chased by a seasoned police officer named Sergeant Cross, who Dean McKenzie describes. Sergeant Cross is determined to bring the player to justice and stop street racing in Rockport. The player is doing well in the races until a particular set of racers, led by the villain of the game, Clarence "Razor" Callahan (played by Derek Hamilton), sabotages and wins the player's car in a race. After this, the races are no longer in the player's favor.
