Resident Evil fans are a determined bunch. Since the release of the original Resident Evil in 1996, they have been hard at work trying to find out all they could about its cheesy yet endearing FMV opening, which has included identifying the actors chosen to portray the individual members of...
French company Dab Motors is producing a special version of its DAB 1α electric bike which takes inspiration from Nintendo's Atomic Purple Game Boy Color. Costing a cool €14,900 (over $16,500) to pre-order, the vehicle features transparent purple bodywork, custom handlebars with Nintendo-style...
Quintet's classic SNES RPG Illusion of Gaia (also known as Illusion Of Time) has just received a new fan translation 30 years after it launched in North America. Like so many RPG localizations of the period, the English script was pretty awkward – but thankfully, a fan by the name of L Thammy...
Athena's shoot 'em up creation kit series Dezaemon started life on the Famicom, and allowed players to create their own shooters. It would later expand to the SNES, Saturn and N64 – with the latter almost getting a 64DD expansion update that would have massively increased its scope, allowing...
This week's Arcade Archives release has been revealed as Nichibutsu's 1981 space shooter Moon Shuttle (as reported by Famitsu). It will be released tomorrow (October 3rd) on the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch eShop in Japan and is also expected to come to some Western storefronts shortly after (if...
We've given the SuperSega project a fair amount of coverage in recent months, and with good reason – who isn't excited about the prospect of an all-in-one system that runs Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn, Mega CD and Dreamcast software, all via FPGA? Since the project broke cover, there's...
I'm not usually one to get invested in Early Access games. I'd much rather just experience the finished product, when I can experience the full extent of the vision of the developers. However, Spiders' GreedFall had a particularly powerful effect on me (I actually ended up buying it three times...
The Western release date for the latest title in the Memories Off series, SINce Memories: Off the Starry Sky, if officially right around the corner as publisher PQube announced an October release date today. SINce Memories: Off the Starry Sky follows kind-hearted Junya, who is lost in his own...

It's buggy, janky, badly acted in places, and there are a myriad of bugs and performance issues to be ironed out. What a missed opportunity.

Link to the Past is rightly considered a 16-bit classic and offers hours of engrossing entertainment and tantalizing challenge. Not many games from decades ago still feel as fresh and tightly constructed as this; it represents Nintendo at its very best.

Enoria is a beautiful game full of lore and design spark, but it is let down by clunky combat that ultimately makes the game feel a little dull regardless of your surroundings.

This is a well-done and loving bundle, then, but the games themselves are ancient and demand a very specific mindset if you plan to extract any actual entertainment value from them.

Fanmade games are always a delight to see, be it original or altogether recreated games made from scratch, and this case, a beloved arcade and SNES classic got such treatment. The original "Final Fight" is a "beat 'em up" game originally released for the arcades back in 1989 with the option to play with two players, and then later ported over to other consoles, such as the SNES, Sega CD and the GBA, with all three versions ranging from slight censored content like GBA port, to severe cut content like the SNES port, which had the playable character Guy, the Industrial area and the two player co-op gameplay removed, and to top it off, censored content as well. A development team going by the name "CFX", which consists of Edmo Caldas, Master Linkuei, Mauro Xavier and Oscar Celestini, have worked to put together an entirely new recreation of the original arcade game made from scratch, without any kind of pre-existing or reverse-engineered code, and managed to get the game working on the original SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive hardware, complete with all its 3 characters, 3 rounds/stages out of the 6 so far, and a survivor and attack modes implemented into the game. Those interested in trying out the WIP build of the homebrew port can find it on Itch.
After almost a year and a half in development and many beta versions, Aria of Sorrow Reprise v1.0 is now released! Reprise is a roguelike mod for Aria of Sorrow with a procedurally generated castle along with custom rooms, extensive new features, effects and re-balancing. Explore randomized areas, clear rooms, and then fight the boss to advance the game. Experiment with new equipment and soul abilities, with changes documented in-game with the '~' character. There are many more details in the readme, but it is easy to jump in and play! This mod is targeted to both beginners and experienced players with 4 difficulties, and does not require any previous map knowledge due to it's progression system and map generation. It's also very replayable, just use a different filename to generate a different castle. This has been a rewarding project that a lot of effort was put into - huge thanks to everyone who has played it and provided feedback to get to this point. Enjoy this latest release! Download Page
